Stainless steel maintenance and cleaning
Stainless steel is well known for being a clean surface that resists rust and corrosion. Because of this it is a popular choice in residential and commercial kitchens, outdoor areas and even bathrooms.
It is also extremely hard wearing, hygienic and easy to keep clean!
Here are our top tips on the different types of cleaning applications you can use on your stainless steel products, bench tops and cabinetry in the home:
- Warm Water
Sounds simple, but routine cleaning of stainless steel usually only requires warm water and a cloth. However, always dry your stainless steel bench tops or appliances with a dry cloth, preferably micofibre, as this ensures the minerals in the water won’t leave unsightly marks or stains.
- General House hold items: CRC OR WD40
A great cleaner for fingerprints! Just spray a small amount on a microfibre cloth and wipe gently (always in the direction of the grain of material). Note: Most people will have a can around the house, however this cannot be used on benchtop or food surfaces, but is great for outdoor use or constantly weathered stainless.
- Specialty Stainless Steel Cleaners
If you have had hard staining or scratching, or potentially need to polish your stainless steel, a specialist stainless steel cleaning product may be a good idea. However, always read the instructions carefully and test on an inconspicuous spot first.
