Meet the Metro Steel Services Team

ADAM TAAFFE

Director

Adam is the driving force behind the highly qualified team at Metro Steel Services. With over 17 years experience in the industry in both Australia and the UK, he has the knowledge and dedication required to ensure his team continually remains at the top of its field. Adam is a perfectionist and is committed to his pursuit of providing the highest standard of stainless steel fabrication. These characteristics, coupled with his passion for manufacturing a diverse range of stainless steel products are what make him an inspirational person to lead the talented Metro Steel Services team. Adam thrives on the challenge of turning a client’s idea or drawing into reality and experiencing the reward of a highly satisfied client.

LEE HANSORD

Operations Manager

Lee’s role is to manage the day to day operations of Metro Steel Services and his experience in design, project management and administration ensures the smooth running of the team. His favourite part of the job is working with such a great team and the hard working atmosphere in the workshop, coupled with the work ethic of everyone who is part of the Metro Steel Services staff.

DANIEL PARTRIDGE

Service Manager

Daniel has over 14 years of experience in fabrication and his skills, versatility and desire to give anything a go makes him a valuable member of the team.

Daniel manages the service and maintenance of some of Metro Steel Services’ large commercial clients’ kitchens.

He loves the variety of the work he gets to do each week and the people he meets at the many different workplaces he gets to visit – whether that be inside a McDonalds store or on a construction site. Daniel and has a real passion for his work.

GRAEME BLACKIE

Senior Tradesman / Estimator

Graeme’s role is to work with Metro Steel Services’ clients in both the manufacturing of high quality stainless steel products as well estimating projects. He has over 30 years experience in manufacturing, estimating and site work in the commercial and stainless steel industries. He also happened to own and run one of the top commercial kitchen companies in WA before coming on board to Metro Steel Services. Graeme loves what he does thanks to the people he meets and works with and the great variety of projects he is part of each day.

EOGHAN POLLARD

Project Manager

Eoghan has recently joined Metro Steel Services and brings with him a multi-faceted skill set.

He has been involved in the hospitality industry for over 14 years and has also held the role of Owner/Director for his own business.

Eoghan’s years of experience in design, consultancy, drafting, project specification, procurement, as an installer and also project management are all valuable attributes to bring to the Metro Team.

CLAIRE FOSSILO

Accounts/HR Coordinator

Claire is the Metro Steel Services client contact for all accounts and her good communication and outstanding organisational skills are a huge asset. She loves everything about her job and says that there is no better place to work than Metro Steel – everyone is friendly and great at what they do!

ANDREA RICHARDS

Administration/Purchasing

With over 25 years experience in administration, Andrea is the one that keeps the Metro Steel Services workshop and office ticking. Her organizational skills and willingness to help out in whatever is required makes her an integral part of the team. Andrea loves the variety her job brings every day and the fun, friendly atmosphere of the Metro Steel Services workplace.

DAMIAN PITCHES

Senior Draftsman

Damian has over 16 years of drafting experience, and is proficient in the use of Solid Works producing 3D models. The 3D model allows him to see problems before they arise and can be rectified before production has begun. He also produces plasma cutting patterns which allows the Metro Steel Services team to make the most of materials efficiently. Damian enjoys creating 3D models and then seeing the finished product in the workshop.

PABLO ALAVILA

Industrial Designer

Pablo is an Industrial Designer who has travelled all the way from Argentina. Here in Australia Pablo has worked in a variety of jobs from farm to construction. Happy to be working back in his profession, Pablo likes to follow the design process down to the finer details and see how the final product materializes, while sharing thoughts and ideas with the Team and having a good time along the way!

Being a former Laser Programmer & Operator, Pablo also has a great understanding of production from start to finish always ensuring quality throughout! Pablo is a fantastic addition to the MSS Team.

BEN ZAWAL

Workshop Foreman

Ben has been with the Metro Team for just under 6 years and has been involved in stainless steel fabrication for over 18 years.

His specialty is in stainless steel and glass infill balustrading. However Ben is an all rounder who spends time on all aspects of stainless steel fabrication in the workshop and on site when required.

Ben has recently been appointed the Workshop Foreman, therefore oversees all projects from when they hit the workshop floor and ensures they leave the workshop to the MSS standard and on time. Ben is an integral part of the MSS Team with his good communication and organisational skills.

He enjoys his busy work schedule and imparts his knowledge and ideas with his co-workers.

Well done Ben, you are an asset to our Team.

TUINNA BLACKIE

Tradesperson

Tui has been working at MSS on and off for several years now, always lending a hand during our busy periods. Tui is an asset to any business, she is meticulous in her work and brings many years of stainless steel knowledge into the workshop.

Outside of MSS, Tui has her own business and is passionate about creating unique artwork out of steel, in particular working with mirror stainless. Her last project “The Boab” won the Peoples Choice Award at Sculptures by the Sea held in Cottesloe. To see some of Tui’s masterpieces visit her website www.choicestainlesssteel.com.au

ZHANE ROBERTSON

Tradesman

Zhane is a country boy who worked as a farm hand before moving to Perth to complete his pre-apprenticeship in light fabrication at TAFE . He has now joined Metro Steel Services and has recently successfully completed his Cert III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Light YC) apprenticeship.

Zhane enjoys the variety of tasks in his role, both in the workshop and on site, he is always helpful and enjoys working with everyone in a fun environment. Zhane is proving to be an excellent asset to the MSS Team!

JOE VENUS

Tradesman

Joe joined the Metro Team 5 months ago and has 15+ years of experience in stainless steel fabrication.

He originally completed work experience in the plumbing industry but quickly changed his path and completed his apprenticeship in Certificate III in Engineering. He is a competent worker and enjoys fabricating various custom projects in the workshop.

In his spare time Joe enjoys the outdoors including fishing and camping.

Joe is impressed with the Metro workshop saying “it is very organised, clean and everyone is great to work with!”

PERCY PANGILINAN

Tradesman

We are delighted to introduce Percy as one of our newest recruits who has over 10 years experience in the stainless steel fabrication industry. Percy enjoys the autonomy of his position within the MSS Team, creating custom items for our Clients.

In his downtime Percy can be found relaxing and spending time with his family and friends.

He enjoys the working environment at Metro Steel Services, specifically the organised nature of the workshop!

THOMAS AMPLEFORD

Tradesman

Thomas began his apprenticeship in Glasgow at a blacksmiths workshop, the company had a stainless steel branch where he completed his training.

Thomas has also worked in the UK, Netherlands and now in Australia. He has over 17 years experience varying from structural steel, sheet metal and stainless steel, his knowledge on steel and welding processes is an asset to the Metro Team.

In his spare time, Thomas enjoys camping, kayaking and the occasional tennis game!

KIERAN BYRNE

Machine Operator

Kieran and his family travelled from Ireland to Australia @ 15 years ago. Back home, Kieran worked mostly in manufacturing facilities operating various machinery. He has brought his years of experience and knowledge in his various roles to the Metro Team.

Kieran is the main operator of Metro Steel’s latest acquisition, our laser machine. He is also the friendly face for all of our incoming and outgoing deliveries for the workshop.

Kieran is a hard worker who enjoys the easy going nature of the all staff at Metro.

It is great to have Kieran on board!

DYLAN BASSET

4th Year Apprentice

Dylan joined our Team in 2020 and is now into the 4th year of his apprenticeship in Cert III Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Light YC).

Dylan has previous experience in fabrication as a boat builder and has also completed a pre-apprenticeship in Engineering. Dylan is happy to help out in all aspects of the workshop and has recently spent time on site, developing the specific skills required when working away from the workshop.

When asking Dylan what he likes most about working at MSS…. “the friendly community and the happy smiles he sees at work”

CALEB FARMER

3rd Year Apprentice

Caleb has been with the MSS Team for over 3 years now and is into his 3rd year of his apprenticeship in Cert III Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Light YC).

Caleb brought his on-site experience as a labourer to our Team which makes him a great asset! He is a multi-tasker helping out wherever required from the workshop floor operating the plasma machine to deburring and pressing, he also helps out on site with installs for our Service Team.

Caleb enjoys the variety of tasks in his day and the laid back work environment, he is already showing skills to becoming a great tradesman!

JOSH CHODOROWSKI

3rd Year Apprentice

Josh was born in Karratha and moved to live in the Perth hills where he attended Mazenod College. He successfully completed year 12 along with a Certificate II in Sport & Recreation and also woodwork.

Josh has worked as a delivery driver and also had experience as a labourer. He soon decided to change his path and pursue metal fabrication so began his apprenticeship in Cert III Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Light YC) and is currently in his 3rd year.

When away from the workshop Josh can be found surfing, playing footy or 4 wheel driving and camping.

When asked about Metro Steel Services….. “I enjoy the friendly environment at MSS, the variety of work and always keeping busy”

CAI KELLY-SPENCER

2nd Year Apprentice

Cai is our second year apprentice! and his background is very interesting to say the least, from Army Cadets to being a qualified barista and a Certificate II of Business under his belt! He will in no time be adding Cert III Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Light YC) to his repertoire.

Cai is laid back and enjoys gaming and bike riding in his spare time.

If we ask Cai what he enjoys most about his work, it is his varied tasks in the MSS workshop “it is never boring or repetitive” and he loves being “hands on” , he also appreciates the independence he is given to carry on with his various tasks.

Cai is well on his way to becoming a great tradesman!

CAMPBELL BUTCHER

1st Year Apprentice

Campbell is the latest edition to the MSS Team!

He worked at Maccas for a couple of years as crew coach and more recently completed his work placement in our workshop.

Campbell has completed his Certificate II Engineering Pathways and Certificate II Engineering Heavy Steel Fabrication Pre-Apprenticeship, he says he always knew his career would lead him towards working with metals.

“When I was offered the apprenticeship, I jumped at the opportunity. It felt like I was already part of the Metro Steel family after having worked so closely with all the other staff during my work placement”

After hours Campbell enjoys spending his time at the gym and is a collector of cologne, definitely the best smelling in the MSS workshop!
